I loved The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and therefore could not wait to get my hands on its sequel. It was, simply put, a pleasure to read. Fantastic characters, funny dialogues and a thrilling plot made this book one of my favourite reads over the holidays. Alone some themes which appeared very preachy to me in the manner they were told could have used some subtlety.
I love Mackenzie Lee and her books. Didn't like it quite as much as the first book, but it's a great and funny sequel. Highly recommend reading it.
The book arrived in perfect condition the day after I ordered it, and was amazingly good value for a brand new product. I am very satisfied and would order with them again!

Felicity mochte ich schon im Vorgänger sehr und war sehr gespannt auf ihre Geschichte und ich habe alles bekommen, was ich wollte. Ich liebe es, dass sie weiß, was sie will und konkrete Ziele für ihr Leben hat. Vor allem deshalb, weil das ganz und gar nicht die sind, die andere für sie festgelegt haben, denn sie kann sich nichts schlimmeres vorstellen, als zu heiraten und ihr Leben zu Hause und ohne sinnvollen Zweck zu verbringen. Auch dass man es ihr wirklich schwer macht, ihre Träume zu verwirklichen, hält sie nicht ab und sie sucht nach immer neuen Wegen, es trotzdem zu schaffen, was ich sehr beeindruckend und inspirierend finde.Dabei ist sie allerdings nicht perfekt, denn sie ist zu Beginn sehr festgefahren in ihren Denkmustern und hat einige Vorurteile. Positiv vermerken muss man dabei, dass sie sich weiterentwickelt und viele ihrer Ansichten ändert oder anpasst. Neben Felicity haben mir auch die anderen Charaktere sehr gefallen, denn keiner von ihnen ist flach oder leicht durchschaubar und jeder von ihnen konnte mich mindestens ein mal mit seinen Handlungen überraschen.Durch die Handlung festgelegt ist schon, dass das Buch feministische Botschaften enthält und es gibt einige Zitate, die ich fantastisch fand und die man auch in der heutigen Zeit noch 1:1 so übernehmen kann. Dabei ist natürlich klar, dass das Buch aktuell ist, aber wie die Autorin im Nachwort erklärt, ist das auch für das achtzehnte Jahrhundert keineswegs abwegig, denn auch da haben sich Frauen natürlich schon benachteiligt gefühlt und haben sich nicht protestlos ihrer geschriebenen Rolle gefügt.Neben den Charakteren hat mir auch die Handlung generell sehr gefallen. Die Spannung steigt und sinkt, aber ich hatte zu jeder Zeit das Bedürfnis, möglichst schnell weiterzulesen. Der Verlauf war für mich ziemlich unvorhersehbar und ich wurde das eine oder andere Mal wirklich überrascht.
This book is an absolutely worthy sequel of ‘The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue’ which I loved. It’s about Monty’s sister Felicity who is trying to become a doctor. Because this turns out to be even harder than anticipated she travels the world to find her place in it.The plot was super exciting, the characters are so real seeming and their developments are really fascinating to read about. It’s a very socially critical book which makes it even more interesting. Defintely a recommendation!
